"Uttam's" Little Buds takes pride in following the Montesssori system concieved by Dr. Maria Montessori.We instill self-confidence in the children in order to prepare them for the challenging world. They are encouraged to work on their talents. Besides education, a child needs to be exposed to so many other elements such as the practicality of life, the philosophy of nature, the etiquette followed in society, awareness of one's existence and the logical approach to reality.
The primary curriculum at ULB is divided under five categories such as

Exercise Of Practical Life
Exercises such as cutting,pouring,polishing,sewing,sorting,washing etc.These are simple activities that develop small motor skils and promotes independence and self confidence. These activities play a developmental and creative role .There is prominence of physical movements.
SENSORIAL ACTIVITIES
These activities make the child aware of the physical properties of matter such as size, color, shape and dimension. The tools are prepared to draw the attention of the child to the physical property only. Through their senses children learn to think and reason using shapes, colors and sizes. Working with these materials the child becomes conscious of the three linear dimensions and other dimensional possibilities. Memory and grading exercises are presented for some of the materials to further sustain interest and continue to work with material without getting bored. It helps in developing the senses and bringing order to their mind.
LANGUAGE
In a Montessori classroom vocabulary is enriched from the very beginning. Language is taught with phonetics and the child is introduced to conversational and written English. children are given the freedom to communicate in their own language though the adult speaks in a single medium. The child becomes aware of every aspect of language via, sounds, words, sentences, self experience. Activities like story time, song time etc adds to the child's inherent vocabulary.
AIRTHMETIC
Arithmetic forms the basis of all the other branches of mathematic. Lessons allow children to see numbers and math concepts. The child in the montessori will be called upon to do 3 things, which are most important in the field of Arithmetic.
- The child is first called upon to make proper association of names with quantities.
- Then after this he is given the association of the name with the symbols.
- Finally he is called upon to make a link between the quantity and the symbol via the names. Concepts are grasped easily and the child is able to carry out mathematical operations.
CULTURE

ART AND CRAFT/MUSIC AND DANCE
Regular classes of Art and Craft are held and Children are given an opportunity to develop their creativity and expression through art and craft. The child is encouraged to cut, fold, paste and to create and express his own ideas. The child is exposed to a wide variety of material make the experience a memorable one .Music is used as a way to develop listening and self expression among children. It promotes imagination, and is a fun way to enhance learning. We introduce dance and music through melodious rhymes.
